Core Chicago Pilates Studio

Think you can't do HIIT and Pilates at the same time? You clearly have never experienced Core 50/50: H.I.I.T. & Deep Stretch at Core Chicago Pilates.  Let me start by saying Core Chicago Pilates is one of my favorite fitness classes here in Chicago, and I'm so happy to finally share a review of one of their class options. 

As the name implies, this class is split into two sections: HIIT and deep stretching.



Core 50/50 starts with 30 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) based upon the Pilates method including plenty of core work and low impact cardio intervals. In just thirty minutes, this class packed in teasers, planks and bicycles galore along with deep squats and inchworms. 

Deep Stretch

After the body was warmed up, worked out and abs were crying for mercy, we continued on to a full body stretch session.  As a person who typically only stretches when it is a part of the class, this extended stretch was greatly appreciated by my body. 


This class is great for runners as it focuses primarily on building core strength that we runners often neglect. It's also great for those who don't think they have time to get both a great workout and a stretch session in and instead forgo stretching entirely. 

Their mat classes are tiny being capped at just 7 participants. This allows for more individualized instruction and a more intimate atmosphere. Liz Dell, the instructor of this class, is super friendly and funny.  I truly believe this class has something to offer to everyone.

Tips for Class:

  • Free parking is available on Wrightwood east of Racine.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes early. There is often nobody at the front desk so ring the doorbell when you arrive and they will buzz you in. 
  • The studio offers complimentary water, tea and coffee. It doesn't get much better than that.
